November 10::10

We’re still putting a house together, but Christmas doesn’t know that.  I’m trying to organize clutter, but seasonal stuff has to be unpacked.  I’m never a fan of putting up the tree.  Only thing worse?  Taking it down.  But on Dec. 1, it was all about putting it up.  I won’t get ahead of myself.

Before we bought our tree, we had stuff to clean up: laundry, new artwork, moved some furniture around to hold said clutter.

Then it was time to create some holiday cheer.  As much as I hate the clean up and constant watering, I’ve given into the beauty of a real Christmas tree.

He’s in charge of the light.  Honestly, I put him in charge of the entire operation.  I don’t think he minds.

I’ll admit it, there’s something fun about watching them find and remember their favorite ornaments.

Midway through, we took a break for hot cocoa.  I should say, they took a break for hot cocoa soaked whipped cream.

Remember, he’s in charge of the lights.It took all day to get our house into the spirit.  As much as I bitch and moan, our house never looks better.  And I forget every single year that deep down I really do like it all gussied up for Christmas.  I just wish I went to sleep and woke up surrounded by Holiday crap.Go check out Michel Feist’s 10 on 10!  It’s been a few months since I’ve seen a sweet little tush.  Fingers crossed…  We’ve got some new members this month, so pour some coffee and make it around the entire ring.  Who works on Monday anyways?

  • Carmen - Lookin’ good!

    I’m running over to top up my tree now since your post reminded me that I haven’t watered that thing in 3 days…December 10, 2012 – 10:09 amReplyCancel

  • Bethany - So good. I love the Christmas stuff too, but putting the tree up is my least favorite holiday tradition. LOVE the GIF. One day I’ll do one myself.December 10, 2012 – 10:09 amReplyCancel

  • michel - I swear I’m the only one that didn’t go xmas tree hunting this round! bah humbug. Sweet wrap job on the pole. That is some top notch work right thereDecember 10, 2012 – 12:04 pmReplyCancel

  • jess - getting the ornaments out is my favorite thing to do with the kids (unless they get all grabby). henry gets so excited with all the ornaments he remembers and is learning the story of where they came from and tells the stories to bea.

    last year i purged our decorations because i hate taking them all down. i got it to where almost all of them fit on the mantle. putting up the decorations this year made me so glad i did that.

    also, i love the amount of lights you guys put up on the light post.December 10, 2012 – 12:38 pmReplyCancel

  • amy grace - the print is fantastic. a fantastic kick in my ass just looking at it. we do what we can around the clutter, we clear space in our minds, we put up the tree and get mesmerized by the lights, and all is good. or in this case get a huge smile watching someone put up lights. the gif makes this. even better. thanks for making the truth feel so good to look at.December 10, 2012 – 2:46 pmReplyCancel

  • Laura - Yes to the Mark gif!! We do a real tree also and I wouldn’t have it any other way…even though it’s always messy. I completely melt into an emotional mess listening to the kids sort through their ornaments. Loving the gray walls!! The print? priceless.December 10, 2012 – 7:43 pmReplyCancel
