Do I Dare?

Do I paint the brick white or leave it natural?

I’m 99.5% positive that I know my answer, but there’s very little room to switch back.  Mark says that it’s my decision, but I really want four people to say “Go for it.”  And if only three do…

I’ll probably still do it and take heat from the “Never Paint Wood or Stone” people.

  • Marisa - I couldn’t do it. I would, however, change up the brass insert/frame/screen/whatever you call it. Is that a possibility? I’ve never had a fireplace.November 1, 2012 – 5:06 pmReplyCancel

  • Bridget - Leave it natural and do what Lori said. Ours is white and I don’t like it. It gets super dirty and looks really bright.November 1, 2012 – 5:43 pmReplyCancel

  • emily - Lose the grate, definitely.
Do NOT paint it. The brick is lovely and adds texture, character and warmth the the space.
Do not paint it, also, until you’ve lived with it a little longer. If you should grow to hate it at an intense level, paint it.
But I suspect you will value the brick more and be glad you left it…November 1, 2012 – 7:38 pmReplyCancel
