I love watching kids fumble with scissors, seeing the paint on their clothes, glitter stuck to their cheeks, and their focus with a paint brush. My kids like most kids their ages, love to draw and color. As I type this post, they’re in the kitchen coloring pictures for each other. Rain has washed away their latest masterpieces on the driveway, but chalk is ready for the next one. Today is the first day that I realized all that love and wonder for art will dwindle. It does and it’s sad. If you think it doesn’t, look out your window. How many adults are doodling, sketching, or creating on a daily basis? Most of my boys’ art supplies will be replaced with gadgets. But I guess keeping that wonder alive is another job to add to my parenting plan.
