I love Leah Zawadzki. Her work is so simple and there’s an underlying sweetness to every photo. Every time I clicked on her site, I noticed the 52 Portraits Each tab. In the past, I gave it a quick glance because I was photographing my children every day. I didn’t need a project to get a portrait of my boys. But that was the past and now I can go more than a week before I turn the camera towards one of my children. That’s sad to me and the time away from the lens is making it harder for me to get good causal photos of them. The less they see the camera the more they fight the snap of the shutter. I need to fix that ASAP.

Suki - Your boys are beautiful. Glad you started a new project. It will be fantaboulus. I know it.September 30, 2012 – 5:01 pm
amy grace - i think there is something different and deliberate and clear about this kind of project. like adding the parentheses around the mess of life. i have thought of it too, and it gets lost in the project junk drawer. just them, in themselves, pure, true, measured. i like it, very much, and i may follow your lead. awesome.September 30, 2012 – 6:28 pm
Jessica Bennett Lewis - I love this idea (though I would totally fail at following through on it)!
both of these are beautiful. you should nag me about this, so maybe I could start this in a month or two : ).September 30, 2012 – 9:16 pm
Jill Dyer Greenwood - I’ve all but given up on my 365 this year (made it until about two weeks ago)… guess there’s only so much photographing of yarn I can take. Love this!September 30, 2012 – 9:56 pm
Erika Dyer Ray - I was wondering where you were at with the 365. It happens…October 1, 2012 – 12:26 am
Erika Dyer Ray - Nagging is my strongest quality. Done. In a few days, I will nag the shit out of you.October 1, 2012 – 12:26 am
Jill Dyer Greenwood - I’m just kinda tired of taking a photo of the same crap. Without kids around, it’s inanimate objects . . . or Olive. October 1, 2012 – 1:46 am
Erika Dyer Ray - I’m with you. I started to realize by not taking photos that I’m only taking the same photos. Over and over again. Hence the break.October 1, 2012 – 2:00 am
Sarah Jane - I’ve been trying to think of a weekly project as well. Quit the 365 this year more than a month ago. Missed 3 days in 2 weeks and realized I wasn’t giving a crap about it, so why continue? It feels pretty darn good to only pick up the camera a couple times a week, and because I’m either inspired to do so or getting paid for it. Way better than wandering around the house looking for a photo to present itsellf. Looking forward to watching this project of yours Erika, your boys are so handsome.October 2, 2012 – 11:16 am
andrea - I absolutely LOVE this new project of yours. And I might just have to do the same thing! And thank you for introducing me to a new, lovely photographer – Leah. WOWsa! Amazing.October 2, 2012 – 1:31 pm
